Artist's Home on Wheels

Birch Plywood / Linolium / Richlite

2020

The Artist Home on Wheels is a multi-faceted mobile living solution designed and built by Nook Studio, a creative laboratory based in Bellingham, Washington. The project was built for line artist and adventurer, Emma Yardley, in response to her unique and ever-changing lifestyle. The facade of the build out carries heavy influence from the lines found in her Yeti products, while the internals of the truck buildout grant access to the most used items in Emma's minimalist lifestyle - her Yeti cooler, go-box and art supplies. As a full time artist living on the road, the client needed a desk that opened up to the natural world around her, the space where she seeks most of her inspiration. The drawing board is nestled above the right-hand cooler, while the center drawer, functioning as the mudroom, cutting board and seat, extends the length of the truck. When both elements are pulled out, a desk, seat and drawing board are created. The solution presented in the build out encourages organization, multi-functionality and the ability to work no matter where she is in the world. Made from pre-finished Baltic Birch plywood, Forbo furniture linoleum & Richlite.
